and rules were tightened in the late 16th, to avoid    
fatal accidents. Gregor Baci, a Hungarian nobleman,    
was pierced by a jousting pike, but tradition has      
it that he survived his injuries.

The "Hairy Man", Petrus Gonzalvus, born 1556 on        
Teneriffa. Considered a unique curiosity who lived at  
various European courts. He married and had two equally
hairy children. Their portraits are a typical item of  
Archduke Ferdinand's collection of art and curios.

disorder and, according to contemporary medical reports
had equally hairy children. The paintings of the
