Sandstone figure of Surya, the Hindu Sun God, central India, 11th. He is flanked on eithert side by the female attendants Usha and Pratiusha, the two aspects o the dawn that drive away darkness. His seven-horse chariot, seen at the bottom of the stele, is shown with Surya's charioteer, Aruna. His image is similar to several images of Vishnu. Though they had separate cults, they are both solar gods in early Vedic texts.                          OA 1872.7-1.56

Battle between Babhruvahana, son of Arjuna the archer in Hinduism, fights against the snakes of the nether regions. Peacocks and other birds attack the snakes, some of which are hooded cobras. The men stand in chariots or ride horses with decorated cparisons, some use bows and arrows. From the Persian version of the "Mahabharata", parvans XIV - XVIII. Authorship is traditionally ascribed to the sage Vyasa.
