View of the Troitse-Sergiyeva Lavra (Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra), residence of Platon II (1737–1812), Metropolitan of Moscow (1775-1812). In 1757 he was called to be instructor in rhetoric at the Troitse-Sergiyeva Lavra near Moscow. Here he became a monk, adopting the name of Platon, and in 1761 was made rector of the seminary of the monastery. Lithograph; 18th-19th century.

The Oranienbaum Palace (Lomonosov) - Russian royal residence, located on the Bay of Finland west of St. Petersburg. The Grand Palace was built for Alexander Menshikov, the prominent statesman and loyal supporter of Peter the Great. He was exiled though, and never saw the finished product. The palace later became the summer residence of Peter III. Watercolour; 1711.

The Royal Crescent, Bath. Aquatint; 1806. From "Bath Illustrated by a Series of Views". The Royal Crescent is an exclusive residential road of 30 houses, laid out in a crescent, in the city of Bath, England. It was designed by John Wood the Younger and built between 1767 and 1774. It is amongst the greatest examples of Georgian architecture to be found in the United Kingdom.

View of New Lanark. Lithograph; 19th century. New Lanark is a small 18th-century village set in a sublime Scottish landscape where the philanthropist and Utopian idealist Robert Owen (1771-1858) moulded a model industrial community in the early 19th century. The imposing cotton mill buildings, the spacious and well-designed workers' housing, and the dignified educational institute and school still testify to Owen's humanism.
