View of the Troitse-Sergiyeva Lavra (Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra), residence of Platon II (1737–1812), Metropolitan of Moscow (1775-1812). In 1757 he was called to be instructor in rhetoric at the Troitse-Sergiyeva Lavra near Moscow. Here he became a monk, adopting the name of Platon, and in 1761 was made rector of the seminary of the monastery.

"Pas de Quatre" (1845) with ballerinas Carlotta Grisi, Marie Taglioni, Lucile Grahn and Fanny Cerito.
"Pas de Quatre" was a Ballet choreographed by a man named Jules Perrot in 1845. The four dancers in the ballet were, in order of appearance, Lucile Grahn, Carlotta Grisi, Fanny Cerrito, and Marie Taglioni. The order of appearance was done by age, from youngest to oldest to avoid any confrontations. The original cast of Pas de Quatre only did four performances together. Queen Victoria and Prince Albert were in attendance at the third of these four performances.

"The Mikado", or "The Town of Titipu", is a comic opera in two acts, with music by Arthur Sullivan and libretto by W. S. Gilbert. It is possibly the most frequently played piece of musical theatre in history.
